War Is Over (If You Want It) . . . We One

Greetings 2U,

Well, it’s November. I remember. That is probably the cause of the content of a song I’ve been writing yesterday and today. This afternoon I made a rough recording on my home computer. It is good to get the ideas recorded because sometimes they vanish as quickly as they come. I included John Lennon’s slogan ‘War Is Over (if you want it)’ into the chorus and added my own ‘We One’. November 11 is coming soon.

Our Grandpa was conscripted into the battle in 1917 and served in France and Germany during WW1. Our dad served overseas in the Canadian Forces during WW11 and then, when he got sick and was discharged, he joined the Canadian Merchant Marine for the duration.

Grandpa’s cousin Jack Babcock (John Henry Foster Babcock) is the last living Canadian WW1 veteran. Jack is 109 years old. Jack Babcock’s father was married to our G grandpa’s sister. His grandfather was married to our GG Grandpa’s sister. It’s all in the family in Holleford.
Maybe war was invented 40,000 years ago. Certainly some homo sapiens folk have perfected the platforms of death. Will they say that in our brief time peace was invented. I hope. We One.
